Internal Control – Structuring of Level 1 Controls

Duration: 9 months | Start date: April 2026 | Location: Paris | Daily rate: max €800

 

We are looking for a senior consultant in internal control on behalf of one of our clients in the insurance sector as part of a project for structuring, harmonizing and managing the level 1 control system.

 

Context

In an environment subject to regulatory requirements (particularly Solvency II), our client wishes to strengthen the robustness of its system internal controlToday, level 1 controls exhibit significant heterogeneity between business units, both in their formalization and in their monitoring and reporting.
The mission aims to structure and harmonize these practices.

 

Roles and responsibilities

  • Facilitating the scoping and acculturation phase for the business teams
  • Identify and improve the reliability of existing level 1 controls
  • Formalize controls according to a homogeneous model (risks, periodicity, sampling, criticality)
  • Identify key controls and propose additional controls if necessary
  • Harmonize control plans across different business lines
  • Establish a structured reporting system (collection, consolidation, reporting)
  • Define the performance indicators (completion rate, anomalies, risk coverage, etc.)
  • Supporting teams in managing change
  • Produce the expected deliverables (methodology, control sheets, control plan, target organization)
  • Facilitate steering and monitoring committees (weekly and monthly)

 

Skills & profile sought

  • Proven experience in Internal control / risk management
  • Mastery of environments regulatory (ideally Solvency II)
  • Experience in the sector insurance (highly desired)
  • Ability to structuring and formalizing control mechanisms
  • Experience in change management and support for the trades
  • Proficiency in office software (advanced Excel, ideally macros)
  • Ability to interact with a variety of stakeholders (business, compliance, audit)
  • Analytical skills and methodological rigor

 

Mission Details

  • Duration: Start mid-April 2026 – mission until the end of 2026 (possibility of extension into early 2027)
  • Start date: April 2026
  • Location: Paris (on-site presence required at least 1 day per week) + remote work
  • Schedule: Full-time or 4/5ths
  • Freelance
